Cranberry- Strawberry Orange Christmas Jam Recipe

Ingredients You’ll Need Servings: 4 half pint jars.

  • 12 oz (about 3 cups) fresh or frozen cranberries

  • 1 lb (about 3 cups) fresh or frozen strawberries, hulled and chopped

  • Segments from 1 orange

  • Zest from 1 orange

  • 1/4 cup water or orange juice

  • 1 cinnamon stick

  • 4 cups granulated sugar

Let’s Make It

  1. Prep the Fruit – Rinse fresh fruit or measure frozen fruit straight from the bag (no need to thaw). Hull and chop strawberries if fresh. Peel and segment the orange, then grate the zest.

  2. Combine Ingredients – In a large heavy-bottomed pot, add cranberries, strawberries, orange segments, orange zest, and water or juice. Stir in sugar and cinnamon stick.

  3. Heat and Dissolve – Place over medium heat, stirring occasionally until sugar fully dissolves.

  4. Cook the Jam – Bring to a boil, then reduce to a gentle simmer. Cook 10–15 minutes, stirring often. Frozen fruit may take 5–10 minutes longer. The jam is ready when it thickens and holds its shape on a chilled plate, or reaches 220°F on a candy thermometer.

  5. Jar the Jam – Remove from heat. For canning, ladle hot jam into sterilized jars, leaving ¼-inch headspace. Wipe rims clean, apply lids, and process in a boiling water bath (10 minutes at sea level, 15 minutes above 6,000 ft). For refrigerated jam, simply let cool and store in jars in the fridge.

  6. Cool and Store – Let jars cool completely at room temperature. Check seals if canning. Shelf-stable, processed jars last 12–18 months; refrigerated, unprocessed jam lasts 3–4 weeks after opening.

Tips & Notes

  • Using frozen fruit is perfectly fine—no need to thaw first.

  • Orange juice or water can be used; juice adds extra citrus flavor.

  • For a smoother jam, mash the fruit slightly with a potato masher during cooking.

  • Makes about 4 half-pint jars.
