If you’re looking for a quick bake that feels special without any fuss, these Cranberry White Chocolate Scones are it. They’re tender, buttery, lightly sweet, and studded with tart pops of cranberry and creamy white chocolate. Perfect for Christmas morning, brunch with friends, or a cozy afternoon treat with a cup of tea.

This is my go-to basic scone recipe, dressed up for the holidays with just two simple add-ins. No fancy steps, no complicated shaping. Just real, homemade goodness.

Hand holds two fluffy white and pink marshmallows showing texture. Other marshmallows on wooden board. Cozy kitchen setting.

  • As part of a holiday brunch board

  • With coffee for a quick morning treat

  • Bagged up as a cozy homemade gift

Cranberry White Chocolate Scones

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • 2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 cup (50 g) sugar

  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 cup (115 g) cold unsalted butter, cubed

  • 2/3 cup (160 ml) milk or cream (plus extra for brushing)

  • 1 large egg (optional, adds richness)

  • 1/2 cup fresh or frozen cranberries, roughly chopped

  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips

Let’s Make It

  1. Preheat & prep: Oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment.

  2. Mix dry ingredients: Flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

  3. Cut in butter: Work cold butter into the flour until coarse crumbs form.

  4. Fold in add-ins: ½ cup cranberries and ½ cup white chocolate chips.

  5. Add wet ingredients: Stir in milk and egg until just combined. Dough should be slightly sticky.

  6. Shape: Pat dough into a 1-inch thick round and cut into 8 wedges.

  7. Bake: Brush with milk (optional) and bake 12–15 minutes until golden.

  8. Optional drizzle: Mix powdered sugar + milk and drizzle over cooled scones.

Hand holds a glazed triangular scone with cranberries. Background shows eggs on a shelf, a bowl of berries, and a white tree decoration. Cozy vibe.

Delicious! Next time my butter needs to be colder and my oven hotter (I wasn’t paying attention) but wow they’re amazing, I’ll be making again and again. Thanks for the great recipe.

Perfect! Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. I used fresh cranberries and dried cranberries, 1 Tbs orange zest!

These look delicious! Can they be frozen? How early can they be made? Thanks 😊

I am avoiding the use of chips this season due to the cost. I have cranberries and oranges...and plenty more. Do you feel the recipe would lack sweetness without the white chips? We typically don't prefer something overly sweet anyway, but these would be for gifts. Thank you very much.

I wasn't able to post without a star rating. To anyone who reads this, I have not made the recipe but am just clicking on 5 stars.

You can absolutley leave the chips out and add orange zest! It wont affect the sweetness to much :)

If youre worried you could toss the cranberries in a bit of sugar to help cut the tartness before adding to the batter.
